NO RESERVE: 2000 Ford Excursion XLT

SECOND CHANCE AUCTION!

The biggest, baddest, production SUV ever, the Ford Excursion will cruise past just about everything except a gas station! This 2000 Excursion is featured in the TFLtruck “Go Big” video series and is being sold with a clean Colorado title. This Ford may be rough around the edges, but at over 20 years old it has had just three previous owners from new. With a V10, 4-wheel-drive, and 3 rows of seats the Excursion is an old-school body-on-frame SUV that is a great way to hit the trails, tow a trailer, or haul heavy loads with the entire family. The Excursion is still one of (if not) the largest SUVs and is truly ridiculous in every single proportion. Longer than most pickups and wider than some yachts, with over 140 cubic feet of total cargo space it can hold more than any other factory-produced vehicle. Bid now for your chance to own the TFLstudios Excursion!

Description

This 2000 Ford Excursion was purchased in February of this year for use in the TFLtruck “Go Big” video series. It is being sold with a clean, Colorado title.

The Ford Excursion is one of the largest factory-produced SUVs ever made. Introduced for the 2000 model year it was designed to compete with the legendary Chevrolet Suburban 2500. Ford began development with the newly introduced Super Duty, modified the frame and the rear end of the vehicle, and sold it with a choice of 5.4L V8, 6.8L V10, and 7.3L V8 turbo diesel engines. Available with a choice of 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive configurations, the Excursion quickly drew a passionate following among those looking tow heavy while hauling friends, family, and all their gear.

This Excursion is a first model example and was purchased by the previous owner just one year into its life. He owned it for 21 years and claimed it was used as a family hauler and to tow his camping trailer before we bought it several months ago. While a solid running and driving vehicle, it does have several flaws.

Rust can be found in several areas across the body. No part of the body or floor appears to be rusted through. The worst corrosion is in the rear fenders (pictured). Some rust is present on the bottom of the doors and at the base of the front fenders. The rockers and floors appear to be solid. The rust above the windshield is said to have been repaired by the previous owner. Underneath the vehicle appears to be very solid with just surface corrosion in some areas. Check out episode two of the “Go Big” video series for a detailed look and inspection by a mechanic underneath the vehicle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-OeZMQmA9o).

The paint is in decent condition overall and the clear coat presents well. There is a dent in the front bumper and the grille has been replaced with a new super duty truck model. All glass is in good shape and the windshield is not cracked.

Mechanically the 6.8L V10 seems to run very strong. The engine does not overheat and displays good oil pressure and voltage. No warning lights are present on the dash. The engine idles and revs very smoothly. The 4-speed automatic transmission selects every gear and does not appear to slip. Under hard acceleration, the shifts seem too firm. The transfer case works in 2wd, 4wd, and 4wd low. The hubs are mechanical locking only (the vacuum system has been disconnected). The rear differential whines at speed. It has not appeared to become worse over our ownership. The suspension, brakes, and steering operate well. The parking brake is functional.

The seats on the interior are in good shape with no large tears or stains. The carpet is very stained. The headliner is in great shape. All four windows roll down. The radio is the original unit and works well (as does the cassette player). The cruise control and all dials work well. Heat and air conditioning are functional. The steering wheel material is worn, the dash is not cracked.

This Excursion is being sold with a clean Colorado title. Now is your chance to own one of the coolest SUVs of all time!
